Map of Food Carts and Restaurants Serving Free Meals to Service Industry Layoffs

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

Here's a map I whipped the other day after I came across an article written by Brooke Jackson-Glidden and published by The Portland Eater. The article discusses restaurants that have decided to start serving free meals to employees of the service industry that have recently been laid off due to the coronavirus, in it was list that detailed the restaurants offering the service with details on who qualified, and when they can pick up the free food.

I decided to mark out those locations on the map, with walking, cycling, and driving ranges for all locations. All information on how and when someone can pick up free food is attached to each restaurant marker on the map, simply click on it, and a small pop up window will show up with the details. As always, ArcGIS online has a location finder button and address search bar so you can find yourself on the map in relation to these food carts and restaurants.

Please take note that conditions may have changed since the article was written on Mar 18, 2020, so please call and make sure these locations are still offering these services before heading over.

Time traveling ranges were created using Time Travel plugins in QGIS, the maps are posted on ArcGIS Online, and the original article is available on the Eater Portland website.
